About Us

Rooted in community. Built on compassion.

SalamaNet C.I.C is a community interest company established to address the growing challenges of digital poverty, social isolation, health inequalities, and inadequate family support systems affecting individuals and families across communities in Leeds and surrounding areas.

Background & Rationale

Why SalamaNet exists

Across many communities, particularly within Black African and ethnically diverse populations, families affected by chronic illnesses — especially sickle cell anaemia — neurodiversity, disability, and caring responsibilities often experience systemic barriers when attempting to access healthcare, emotional support, educational guidance, and digital inclusion opportunities.

These barriers are compounded by digital exclusion, social isolation, and a lack of culturally responsive services that truly understand and reflect the communities they aim to serve. The result is a cycle of disadvantage that affects not just individuals, but entire families and communities.

SalamaNet was established as a direct, community-rooted response to these interconnected challenges — providing the support, resources, and connections that too many people are currently unable to access.

"
The organisation has a particular focus on supporting Black African and ethnically diverse communities who may experience additional barriers to accessing support, services, and opportunities — while remaining open and accessible to all.
